The Transforming Power of the Fathers Love

"Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, You are my Beloved Son; with you, I am well pleased."

What was your relationship with your dad like?

There is something powerful that happens between fathers and their children that either unlocks the potential they have or leaves that son or daughter with identity questions. As we know, there are no perfect fathers; there is just one perfect Father in heaven who wants us to know His love and power.

God has planned from the beginning of time to be a father to us. When Phillip saw the way Jesus lived His life, he asked Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”Jesus' relationship with His Father left Thomas wanting to have a relationship with God the Father, just like he watched Jesus have. There is something profound that happens inside of a man or woman who knows at the core of their heart that they are loved by their fathers.

Jesus came to demonstrate what it looks like to be a son to a Father who “Loves Him and shows Him all that He is doing.”  John 5:20

Do you want that same kind of relationship with the Father?

The Bible says that when Jesus was baptized, “He was praying."  I think He was asking for more of His Father's love and the Power of the Holy Spirit to empower Him to do what His Father asked Him to do.

That was Jesus' “sweet spot,” the Power of the Holy Spirit empowering Him to fulfill the mission of His life, "the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form, like a dove," and the revelation of the Love of His Father towards Him as a son, “and a voice came from heaven, You are my Beloved Son; with you, I am well pleased.”

Jesus knew He wouldn’t be able to fulfill His Father’s mission, without His power and His love. We need His power and love even more!

When we receive Christ into our lives, we no longer have to do life with our own strength and family background. God promises us the Holy Spirit—who empowers us to live the life God has made us for, and He also promises us the revelation of the Father's love that secures us as His beloved sons and daughters.

Want more of the Holy Spirit's Power and the revelation of the Father's love?

Let Us Pray:

Father, I come to you today because I need you to father me like you fathered your Son, Jesus. Father, fill me with the revelation of your love! Holy Spirit, come and fill me with your power so I can live out the story you want me to live. In the name of Jesus, I pray!
