Face to Face
Face To Face
Today I want to talk to you about a secret to becoming the husband and father your family needs. And here it is: Give your first moments of each day to seeking the Lord, face to face, like Moses, and Jesus did. God will speak to you and give you everything you need to lead your family, run your business life, and be the man your community needs. Let’s look at how Moses sought the Lord.
Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” (Ex. 33:11 ESV)
1. Set a face to face time with God every day.
Your ability to be the man husband and father, especially during this coronavirus fear pandemic, is dependent on your meeting with God every day so you can receive everything you need. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the news cycles, the lack of work, and the fear is being spread by the media.
I'm getting emails from guys every week that want to be better fathers and husbands. Many of which are still being stung by the loss of income, and being able to go out and make a living. Moses had a mountain of problems, too, that had to face himself. God called him to lead over 2 million people into the promised land, through the desert, without enough food and water to sustain them. God has called you to lead your family and be stand up with courage during this time of uncertainty. As men, we like to make plans and set goals. We like to work hard and take care of our families. But what do we do when we feel like the rug has been pulled out from underneath us, and we get shaken, not knowing what the future will bring. We might not have 2 million people to water and feed, but God is calling all of us, give the first part of our days to Him, so we can know him, abide in His presence, and be a light for many of our neighbors who are living in fear.
2. Ask God for what you want in your life.
Moses asks God:
“… if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.”
Moses was asking God, “Show me your ways.” In other words, I just don’t want to see the results of the things that do, I want to know who you are and why You do what You do. Moses’ response caused God to say, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”(Ex. 33:13–14 ESV)
Moses says to God, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” (Ex. 33:15–16 ESV)
3. Ask God for more of His presence in your life
Moses is saying, God, without your presence, don’t ask me to lead these people. I have already spent so much of my life without you, and now that I have experienced your presence, I would rather be with you than return to a life without. Can I ask you a question? How many of you have spent more time with the Lord in your life, since the Corona Virus Fear Pandemic, has hit the earth? What we seek, during the times of stress reveals where are heart if truly centered. If we are seeking God more now, then our hearts have been seeking Him. If we have been turning to other things, then
4. Let go of the things that are crowding God out in your life.
Moses then asks, How will people know that you have called me and that I am your friend? Without you, God, we do not differ from any other people in the earth. Your presence makes us who we are!
“And the LORD said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Imagine hearing from the creator of the universe, “You have found favor in my sight, and I know your name.”
He was saying, I know everything about you, Moses, and I have chosen to put my favor upon your life, and you will never be the same. WOW.
Your job is to spend time with Me and receive everything I want to give you. My job is to transform you into the man I have chosen you to be.
Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” And God said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The LORD.’"(Ex. 33:17–19 ESV)
Moses was never the same after He connected face to face with God. Neither will you! Give the best part of your heart to seeking the Lord so He can strengthen you with His presence to be the man in Christ; He has created you to be.
Praying for you!
