The Shocking Truth about Easter (POWERFUL)
Ed Tandy McGlasson and The Blessing of The Father invite you to
Transform Your Story.
This month we’re going to be focusing on the message of Easter and the goodness of God. I have some insights that I want to share with you that I know are absolutely going to change your relationships for the better. Let’s get started!
Most of us—when we think of Easter—start with the crucifixion or the resurrection of Jesus. That’s what we’re celebrating, right? But I think we need to go back further than just the cross and the empty tomb. See, we are each under a sentence of death. Our sin did that for us. Every day, the sins we knowingly commit and even the ones we didn’t know about are earning for us death. That’s what the bible says in Romans 6:23 “For sin pays its wage—death” (GNT) Here’s the same verse said another way, “Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death.”
The truth is, you and I both deserved the death that Jesus’ died on the cross. The difference is, if we had died, the tomb wouldn’t have been empty 3 days later. We would have still been in there rotting away—because that’s what sin does: It eats away at your heart until it is rotten and decaying. It destroys everything. The empty tomb—such a symbolic picture of Easter—would still be filled with our sin and the stench of our rotten lives if we had died in Jesus’ place.
The second part of that verse in Romans says, “But the gift of God is eternal life.” Beloved, Jesus died on the cross so that you wouldn’t have to. He literally paid the price for each and every one of your sins. That’s why the women found the tomb empty on Easter morning—because Jesus didn’t deserve to die. He had power of sin and the grave. The goodness and mercy of God had a plan where Jesus willingly took your place on the cross so that you might receive His good gift of eternal life.
The tomb is empty Beloved. That is God’s good gift of eternal life towards you. Will you receive it? What might that mean in your life today?
