All this month we’ve been talking about God’s love as an action that we can take in our own lives – I hope you’ve been enjoying our series!
One of my favorite verses is found in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. As an athlete, this verse just speaks to me.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
Beloved, I’m sorry to be the one to say this – but sometimes love looks like self-control. But it’s so hard!! Haha.
Listen in to this week’s video as I share the following:
- The day my NFL career started
- What self-control looks like in relationships
- Why controlling yourself may be the most loving thing you can do for your spouse and other relationships
